Confolens is about 3 kms from Villechaise situated on the Vienne river.
It is the sous prefecture of Charente.

It is a beautiful town straddling both sides of the Vienne, best known for its
festival of folklore and music.

As the sous prefecture of Charente, Confolens has an impressive range
of administrative buildings totally out of keeping with its size as a town.
These, together with the commercial premises and houses, go right up to
the banks on both sides of the river.
